Deux grimpeurs domptent un sommet impossible du Yosemite en escalade libre

L'exploit est tel qu'il a été salué par un tweet de Barack Obama. Mercredi, les alpinistes américains Tommy Caldwell et Kevin Jorgeson sont devenus les premiers à conquérir El Capitan, un mur quasi-vertical de 900 mètres de haut dans le parc du Yosemite, en Californie.

Ils ont démarré leur ascension fin décembre, sans aucun autre outil que leurs pieds et leurs mains et des cordes pour les assurer. Ils dormaient dans des tentes suspendues le long de la paroi granitique.

«Ce n'est pas un effort pour ''conquérir'' mais pour réaliser un rêve», avait tweeté Joergeson mardi.
